New Training Course - Systems Thinking and System Dynamics
8 Oct 2008
The HVR Systems Thinking and System Dynamics training course introduces the participants to some of the innovative techniques that HVR has successfully used to support decision makers understand the implications of their policy decisions. HVR use systems thinking tools and techniques to enable the development of robust and sustainable policies and system dynamics simulation to enable the impact of these interventions to be quantified.
The course is a lively mix of theory, examples and case-studies and includes plenty of opportunity to practice the techniques under the supervision of experts in the fields of systems thinking and system dynamics. The purpose of the course is to enable participants to understand the concepts of systems thinking and then apply these concepts to develop quantitative models using system dynamics software.
The course was delivered to the UK Government Operational Research Service (GORS) in September 2008. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Home Office, Department for Work and Pensions, Her Majesties Revenue & Customs, Department for Transport and the Export Credits Guarantee Department. All participants rated the course as either ‘Good' or 'Excellent'. Comments received from the participants included “Excellent notes, plenty of exercises”, “Great lecturers - very knowledgeable and patient!” and “Very good and fun three day course”
